The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the most transforming attitudes a believer can cultivate. Scripture reminds us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is not dependent on the absence of hardship but on the presence of God. When we choose to thank Him amid trials, our perspective shifts from what we lack to the abundance of His grace. Gratitude opens our eyes to the quiet, continual mercies that sustain us each day.
In ministry and preaching, gratitude keeps our hearts soft and our message authentic. It’s easy to become weary under the weight of expectations or comparisons. But when we intentionally give thanks—for the calling, the people we serve, and the privilege of proclaiming the gospel—we find renewed joy and endurance. The psalmist declared, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4). Gratitude ushers us into the presence of God and keeps us centered in His purposes.
As we lead others, may we model thankful hearts. Gratitude is contagious—it shapes communities, restores perspective, and glorifies God. Take time today to pause and thank Him. Gratitude doesn’t change our circumstances first—it changes us.
